What size trailer (open) is recommended to carry a '66 roadster? The longer I have this car - the "handier" having a trailer would be.

First of all, what factors led you to the conclusion that an open trailer, as opposed to an enclosed trailer meets your needs? If you haven't considered an enclosed trailer, you may want to explore the archives on this subject. A few months ago, this subject was discussed in depth and my recollection is that most ,if not all, respondents favored enclosed trailers. Personally, I initially thought an open trailer was the answer for my needs. Fortunately, a friend loaned me his open trailer and I made three trips. After that experience,my wife (it was her car on the trailer!) concluded an enclosed trailer was the only way to go and I happily agreed. Two years and 8000 miles later, it was the right choice. Security, protection and cleanliness are the key issues long after trailer price and fuel economy have been forgotten. -

Price was the factor for me. I'm not considering a trailer for long distance trips - but for short trips for work to be done on the car. I am still in the process of restoration. Once the car is done, I plan to drive it wherever it oges rather than trailer it.Comment

I have an 18 foot open bed trailer with the air deflector on the front. It is of the "rollback design". This size would be minimum. It gives you enough length to get your car all the way on without it hanging off the back and enough room for a winch on the front, if you want it.

Chip - I saw a really nice unit at Carlisle this year, I forget the supplier, I have a flyer somewhere if you are interested. The show price was around $1800, his normal price was around $2200. I think it was around 16ft, appeared to be very will made like you see at U-haul etc. Let me know if you are interested, I will try and dig up the flyer with the info. CraigComment
