Norm, The side posts can be repaired by milling out an area on the bottom and attaching a new tab with screws. Corvette Central provides this service, and I believe they charge about $55 each. Others no doubt also do this, but I've used the CC pieces and know they work.

If you determine the ws has to come apart (and I think you will), you may want to go ahead and order a new windshield gasket unless the one you have is almost new and very supple. The dash pad fits under the windshield gasket, so likely you can straighten out any problem you have there while you have the ws off.

Ed; Well Thanksgiving came early! I got up this morning and took the windshield off. Took about 2 hours with the bolt above the steering column taking about an hour in itself!

Anyway, as you suspected the front tabs were broken off both side posts and one stud was missing entirely from the passanger side which is why that side had more movement! In addition, the side shims didn't appear to be correct as they appeared to be a very thin piece of sheet metal. Is this correct or should it be something more substantial?

I will take your suggestion and arrange with Corvette Central to do the tab rehab. The window gasket appears to be relatively new and the base pad is soft as well. The previous install but a black sealer between the base frame and the rubber gasket that meets the body. Any recommendation as to what I should get for a sealer? Thanks for your help, I'll be back in touch when I get the fixed pieces.
