Well, I am finally getting around to preparing the parts of my 67 to reassemble the rear end in the car. I have the differential carrier, beaded, cleaned and coated with a light coat of krylon semi flat clear to keep the rust away. The crossmember with the rubber cushions that mount on the sombreros is ready to paint, I intend to use the rustoleum paint Joe Lucia mentioned before. I have new GM cushions to install. when the factory built this assembly, was the paint applied before or after the cushions are installed in the member? I would like to know if I should get paint on the rubber cushions or not in preparing the part for installation.....thx!...Craig
