    1967 Parking Lights

I am still trying to resolve the issue of my parking lights not extinguishing when I turn on the headlights. I have replaced two switches with #179's NOS (supposely),checked the wiring,(it's OK) and still I can't get this to work right. Does someone know where I might get a switch that will function properly. As always .. thanks..Jim Carmain #37003

Its odd that you are having this problem. Usually we have to wire tham to do that. I have never gotten one from aftermarket suppliers that acted that way. I guess there is always a possibility that they have changed the design recently. You should check a couple of things. First pull the connector and look at the terminals for the brown and the purple wires. Look on the underside of the switch and see if there is a connection between the two terminals. There may be a brass strip running between them. If there is one, then you need to cut it away. Secondly, if that isn`t the case remove the the purple wire from its socket and leave it out. Plug the harness back up to the switch and try it. If that parking lamp still works, you have a bad wiring harness.
