    C3 - part number question

    does anyone know what the correct AC part number is for the temp sending unit on a 1971 .. LS5 ....... I have checked every book I own

    Original was 6400759 which is a tough 'dude' to source. The center contact is a cylindrical post that differed from earlier and later temp sender construction with their T-shaped contact post. This design was used '68-71 then abandoned in favor or a return to the earlier era mounting post style.

    Chevy mechanics were told to 'snip' the connector from the wiring harness and replace it with the earlier/later style unit when the need to replace a temp sender arose on '68-71 cars. So, finding a real McCoy temp sender is only half the battle; getting a correct/original mating connector can be equally challenging!
