I am doing some detailing on my 66 and am curious as to the finish of the four brackets that the grille is attached to which are rivited to the inner fenders. Are they zinc plated or painted? If painted, would they be semi-gloss? Were they in place (which would be my guess) prior to blackout and show some evidence or be completely covered with blackout?
As always, thanks for the help, wish I knew enough about these animals to help someone else for a change.
Larry,
I have a 67 but I believe that they are the same. Saying that, on mine, the four brackets that are riveted to the body, are semi-flat black, and should show blackout on the brackets, but not the J-nuts (also semi-flat black).
Clear as mud right?
Don
The light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.
Painting the brackets was my guess. Of course the J nuts are not painted as they probably would have fallen off the body before it got to the assb'y line. My personal philosiphy is when in doubt, paint it.
