    C3:PN's for choke and EGR

Does anyone have part numbers for a 73 L48:

    Choke housing,spring, lever to choke
EGR valve, gasket and the bracket that hold the valve in place

    TIA

Once again, thanks for the numbers.

No gasket on the EGR?- can't remember to '73. I remember it running the pits after it warmed up. From what I remember I could watch the EGR cutting in after it warmed up, and immediately it run rough. So I disconnected it and eventually took it out and replaced it with a brass plate.

I recently saw someone on ebay selling a gasket claiming to come from a 73 base corvette engine with a NOS Gm part no in the original package GM 353086 and the "correct"color white??? So what was this gasket really for?

(I'm really not impressed with all the "correct" claims on ebay - I sometimes check with the claims on my original and it's not the same at all)

          Steve-----

The GM #353086 gasket was a thick, white gasket and it was used in 1973. However, I believe that this gasket was used only for 454 engine applications. It's possible that it was also used for 350s but I can find no record of its use for those applications

            Joe,
I think you might be right. I took that stuff off around '77 and replaced it with a machined brass plate that is still there. I put RTV under the plate. I would have replaced the gasket if it was there rather than the RTV. Since then the EGR valve got chucked. (Can't imagine what I was thinking in those days)

Why would they put a gasket on a 454 and not on a 350? You'd think that you would need to seal properly between the casting and the sheet metal valve.

I can't figure out why they would have used a gasket for the 454 EGR valve, but not for the 350. 1973 was the first year for EGR on Corvettes, though, and, perhaps, they just hadn't sorted everything out yet. Different design teams may have worked on the 454 EGR design than worked on the 350 EGR design.

                Joe

The EGR valves clamp on the same way on the 454 as the 350 and all my 73's have a thick gasket that is brown but may have been white and is asbestos like material. A 454 gasket would fit fine as the EGR and clamp are the same shape but different part number.
