    Midyear radiator support location....

I have a '67 SB with a new PM front end, which is bonded on. I have the radiator support inside, loosely lined up. I have no reference points on where to drill the holes in the inner fenders, for the radiator support "supports".

My question is....looking at the support from the front, sitting on the floor, the very bottom measures exactly 32" horizontally, from end to end. Can some one tell me how far away those two ends are away from the inner lip of the fiberglass down at the bottom? I imagine they should be the same, right behind the bottom of the grille. Thanks for any info. Patrick

Patrick, If you had bought the other companies front-end you would have been able to see the holes, but since you didnt, proceed like this. Place your support brackets on the innerfenders, bolt them up where the hood hindges go. Drill your upper hole using the bracket as a guide, then mount the radiator support aligning the lower frame holes and install the bolts. When you have these to things located, just drill the holes in the innerfender where it meets the bolt holes in the radiator support. The support brackets should match those locations. Now rivet the support brackets onto the innerfenders.

Wayne- So that we don't make the same mistake, what's the first letter of the other company that I surmise is the superior purveyor of things glass?

Tom, No where in my post did I make any assertion that one was superior to the other. I do contend that one exibits a more faithfull Image of the original.

            And the superior purveyor is...

So that you don't make the same mistake, the first letter of the company that is the superior purveyor of things glass is "G". The second letter is "M".

Yea, sure, they did a nice job of the Sheet Moulded surrounds and the hand layed 63 side fenders and SMC park lamp corners, and Gennite 65-66 side fenders, and one type fits all parts coverages, and no correct style innerfenders for 63-65, and injection moulded hoods, and wrong materials and colors, etc. You could buy anything from GM over the counter that you wanted, but it wouldnt necessarily be correct. Fact is they cared nothing about the correctness, just that it was servicable. I understand what you are saying, if it were possible to find the correct old original parts, but thats very difficult and very expensive. The truth of the matter is that some reproduction parts are more correct than anything that you could buy over the counter at GM.
