    Can anyone help interpret the following codes that's on the engine of my '60 corvette. Block # 3970010 Casting # C293 Suffix # CE4N21471. I don't think it's a corvette engine??? Thanks, Steve

    The block casting # 3970010 was used in Corvettes from 1969-1980. It is a 350 cubic inch block. The CE is for Chevrolet Engine. The last numbers after the 4N are the sequence number of this particular engine assembly from the factory. The 4 could be for 1974 and the N could represent the month in 1974. There is a web page that I will look for that might have some more information.

      It's a warranty replacement ("CE") 350 block, cast on March 29, 1973, and assembled at Flint Engine in 1974. No way to determine the innards without tearing it down.
