    Serial # Data Base

Since no such data base now exists, would it be possible for us to "back" ourselves into
one ? ie: We build a web page which accepts data. Folks then add data per each serial number. In 1977 I owned a 1965 coupe serial # 194375S100034. I could go to the data base and insert the known data and my name and contact information. The present owner would then find said serial # and contact me for information on the car. Any thoughts on this concept? Might need to limit it to NCRS members for input. Since we are being confronted by the blockade of the federal laws against contacting previous owners we need to begin building our own solution to our problem. Thoughts?

      Re: Serial # Data Base

Many of the corvette registries out there are compiling such information. I have a list of the registries I've found on the internet on this webpage: http://corvetteforum.net/c3/1970registry/RegList.html (It's on the '70 Registry website.)

I keep a lot of information from the '70 Registry offline, and only include owner info online if the owner approves it, or if it's information I found in a published reference or other online sources. I've got original paperwork for one car someone found in a used book, and other details / specs & documentation from former owners - several of whom are looking for the car today.

There is a lot of valuable information in the Driveline in terms of tracking down prior owners since NCRS requires inclusion of the vehicle VIN in for sale ads. I won't even mention that it would be real handy to have the Driveline online for searching for particular vehicles, or seeing if it was a small block car with an ugly color last time it was listed for sale. You would also be amazed at the number of corvettes which pass through eBay and what info you can find out by contacting the sellers. ~Juliet
