Could someone tell me what the differences are between the first and second editions of the 1960 Owners Manuals and the approximate date when the second edition starting being issued?

Re: '60 owners Manual
I have never compared both 1960 editions side by side so I can't help w/your first question, however it is impossible to determine the date range of first to second editions in 1960. Some years had months/years printed on the various "editions" but 60 did not. Early cars will be firsts and late cars will be seconds, everything else could be either. The earliest second edition I have seen is December(1964), however the 67 second editions are dated April 1967.- Top

Re: '60 owners Manual
Adding on to what Dave said, unless there was some kind of glaring error (basis for 'recall'), literature was binned and mixed (same P/N) with inventory control not being all that good. Take '65 for an example. The 'break' between 1st and 2nd edition of the owner's manual was Jan '65. But, my uncle's late April '65 built car came with a 1st edition owner's manual vs. a 2nd edition. Another club member with a Noland Adams survey car built 12 jobs after mine shipped with a 2nd edition manual. And, a third chapter member with a similar car 1000+ units later also had a 1st edition manual in the glove box....- Top
