Long before I owned my '72, the blue VIN decal on the drivers door disappeared. The outline is there, but no decal. So, this winter I've decided to see how good a repo I could make. In my searches, the examples I've found have not been too representative of what the General produced. Specifically, I'm looking for the format of the typed info on the decal; date format and VIN format along with the font size used. So, if anyone has or had a 72 built between 8/71 and 12/71 and/or knows about the decal, I'd really like to get your input.
Hi George.... Thanks for your response. The difference in the decal is for those cars built after 12/72, the GVW and front/rear weights were included in the decal and I belive the font was different. If you can take a look and let me know, that would be great...

Various reproductions, which include the clear mylar covering, are frequently available on eBay. I've looked at doing one as well, but for $25-$35 I think I'll buy one.

Thanks Gary. Well, by the dawns early light, I see there are many typos, including the title. Sorry about that and for the record there are no C2 1972's. I guess that would be an early one. As for the reference to 12/72, it should be 12/71. Sorry for the confusion..... Must be having transmission problems from the mind to the fingers....
