Mike, I think that the earliest PRODUCTION 396 was VIN 12584. Others will chime in I am sure. I am mostly a 67 guy....ARA

In the latest Driveline, Bill Mock has a quarter page color ad and a classified ad for the first "production" big block, coupe VIN 194375S112864, at an interesting (clever) price.

Mike - The VIN is on the early side, depending on where in that 12,XXX range it sits. How's the rest of the car matching up for indicators of a Bigblock 65?

Mike I have 10 65 396s in the 12,000 range , nine built before Bill Mocks. I have no idea if they are real , one is supposed to be a Bowtie car (12201) listed in the driveline in 1997 and one a project car (12853) ?Others are 12224 a white conv. from 2010 ,12243 a red conv on ebay . 12245 a white conv on ebay located in Maryland in 2013 .12460 Red ? 12465 a Black car in 2011 .12584 from 2001 .12682 a red Conv from 1999. and 12853 a Black project car . Again I DON'T know if they are real. If anyone has information on any of these let me know and I will delete them from my list .

I don't get the point of advertising a nice but ordinary car for crazy money, $1.5M, because you think it is the first of many with a particular option. How much is the first 427 or LT-1 or fuelie worth and how do you prove it? Is this supposed to jack up the price if it goes to auction some day? If so, how?
