Just bought my first C1 - a 1960 Fuelie with power soft top (and hard top). The soft top doesn't fit any longer. It shrunk and is about 1" short of being able to clamp to the front bar. Any recommendations? If I need to replace, please provide recommendations on where to purchase the replacement (anything close to Raleigh, North Carolina which is where the car is located would be appreciated)

Re: Suggestions on Restoring Soft Top
Welcome Todd, Have you tried letting it sit out in the sun for a few hours? How are you latching the top? Are you latching the back or front first? The tops are suppose to fit tight. Set it out in the sun, latch the front first, then see if you can't latch the back by pressing down with one hand and latching with the other. The top will shrink a little if it is stored in the down position for a while. Al Knoch would be where to buy the top but you should check the archives or local chapter members as to who can install it correctly in your area. If you can't find anyone local check with Coffman's Corvettes, they can help you out. Good luck and keep us posted- Top

Re: Suggestions on Restoring Soft Top
Terry, thanks for the suggestion. We did try sitting it in the sun (all afternoon) and latching: front first, then back as well as back first, then front. Even got someone else to help me, one holding down the top while the other latched. It just didn't work. The previous owner never put up the soft top and it was stored in the down position for about 30 years. Surprisingly the top itself cleaned up well. But, the bows need attention - surface rust. The previous owner also disconnected the factory power to the top. We have all the parts and will need to reconnect it and confirm it works. I'll look into Al Knoch.- Top
