    How To Remove Decal

My 1996 has a badly cracked rear compartment frame. The sticker with all the codes is on the old frame. Anyone have any secret method to remove these without damage? Any help would be appreciated

Remove the hinge pin and keep the old door

James use a blow dryer or if you have a heat gun use that. But be careful not to stretch the decal out of shape from excessive heat.

I do have a heat gun. I just can't afford to damage it.

keith, the 96 put that label in the center of the rear compartment doors on the frame itself. Wish it was as easy as changing doors out

I don't think it can be removed without damage .

James, I'm afraid Bill may be correct. I can't offer anything on removal, but let me suggest you make several good photos of it before you attempt it. Chip.

Jim, neighbor and I did a sticker a couple of months ago on his '95 and we used a hair drier on medium heat and slowly moved closer. Getting started at a corner it wrinkled some, actually tucked under 1/16" and we could not get it back without doing more damage. It took us aobut 20 minutes going slow. If I had it to do over I would use Keith's suggestion---but John the owner is not an NCRS guy and removed all stickers, labels, etc.---and wouldn't give them to me but he is saving them. There is now chrome scattered around the car and Armor All over most non-body surfaces. Steve

Since that label has to be verified by the team leader before judging, like the trim tag on earlier cars, how will its removal and reattachment affect that?

For 2 points max, not worth the risk of the "damage" to the car's resale value that molesting the SPID sticker could do. My .02 is leave it alone. The next owner will appreciate it too.
I agree with you, Dave. The negligible loss on condition would offset any question about authenticity and possible counterfeit branding of the car.
