66 AC replace the STV with an eliminator kit

I am trying to replace the STV with an eliminator kit. I know I should stay original but I have had too many problems not to make this attempt. The problem I have is this: The kit (as well as a STV rebuild kit) comes with a very small ball bearing. Step 5 states "for vacuum operated valve insert vacuum restrictor (ball bearing) into vacuum line leading to valve".Question: Where are they talking? The diagram is so poor it really does not point it out. Are they talking about the rubber tube that goes into the bottom of the STV? If so that tube no longer has a connection with the eliminator kitThanks for any help....Dan

Dan: that probably refers to the passenger car STV configuration that has an integral vacuum can. Take a look at Ebay for a Pontiac or Chevelle STV to see this style. Mike

The ball bearing is pushed up into the hose to plug it off, otherwise you would have a vacuum leak since the hose is not connected. Chip.

Paul, When installing the eliminator kit their is no vacuum line...only the two main lines at 90 degrees to each other, three small lines of which one has a needle valve for loading in the R12 .

Dan, not being familiar with the C2 STV configuration, I may have spoken too soon. In your original post, you asked if they were talking about a rubber tube that goes into the bottom of the STV which no longer has a connection with the eliminator kit. I assumed you had a vacuum operated valve and the rubber tube was the vacuum line that needed to be plugged with the bearing so as to avoid a vacuum leak. Sorry for the confusion. Chip.

Not a problem...the kit is confusing as it appears the kit is designed to serve several different model cars, each with the own unique twists. The kit had directions for vacuum operated and cable operated. Directions should be car specific from the manufacturer. I appreciate the help.
