I don't have the answer but I'm curious as to why the nut calls to be replaced? I'm going to be replacing my pinion seal in the next week or so.

CSM says to discard old nut and use a new one. The nut has a locking feature that might not work and torque and gear lash may change if reused I'm told. However, some do reuse and apply green Loctite and say it works fine .Found I can get one from Corvette Central-just ordered one. GM no longer carries the part.

Bill.......................Yes you can reuse yours, when guys swap out pinion seals on the car they mark and reuse the original nuts. As mentioned I would clean it with acetone and use Loctite #271 or #638 to retain it then stake the nut. That is how I do them and I haven't had any back off yet. Your nut shouldn't be plated but if it was you would need to use the correct Loctite primer. When Tom and Pepe Estrada set up diffs, they used 271 to hold the bearings in place on the pinion, no sleeve and they ran very hard at the track. 271 on the nut will be fine.
