The Sears weather handler 30075 battery in my 72 is now about 9 years old and it take the tender about 5 hours to charge it past 80% so I think I will get a new one. What are you guys using for a driver, it doesn't have to be an original looking battery. Just a good maint free one with the handle to get it in & out easier. The 75 series fits but I think the 78's will fit too. I don't want a red top battery, looking at interstates MTP-75 any one using one? Also my car hasn't had the vent tubes in it since I bought the car in '79. Thanks guys

Re: 72 Battery time
I just replaced the 10 year old Delco Professional Series 78 6Yr in my 72 with its current Delco equivalent. The ironic part is that the the date code on the battery was 12 3 which was either December 2003 or 2013. In my case it was 2003. The salesman put those numbers into the computer and it showed I owed them $7.15 with a credit of $107.00. Their computer read the date as 12/2013. I actually argued with the guy and told him that the battery had to be from 2003 but he insisted that was all I owed. I finally gave up and paid the $7.15. A any rate the battery fit fine and works great.- Top

Re: 72 Battery time
I recently installed an Interstate MTP-78 side terminal battery. My only regret is that this model did not have a handle. I installed the battery with the terminals facing the rear of the car with a knife switch battery cut off and have been very pleased so far.
