1963 DIY for Mechanical Clock Works

Some years ago I thought there was a vendor who had a kit to redo the original works of the clock. I have searched the web and not found anyone who sells such a kit. Anyone know of a supplier?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Jeff,
I don't know of any supplier today. I get used clocks from the junk yard. They are all the same movement for cars of that era. Mix and match parts to get a good one. Most of the time a bit of filing on the points gets them to life. I've got 4 running now in my cars.

What about the quartz conversions? I use one in my 72 and it hasn't stopped in the last 8 years.

Hi Tim.What fails during inspection, the action of the second hand? I have to admit I never paid it much attention as I was happy to have a corvette with a working clock!

Exactly. The original movement is not a smooth sweep like the quartz. I agree, a working clock is kinda novel! Tim

              Gene,
Do you think it worth pulling apart and seeing if there are some minor repairs such as the points that might fix it. Operations judging, quartz clock minus 25, non operating clock minus 25 points. If nothing else I can clean up the lens.

Jeff, read through this about a C2 clock. This is a current thread.

I would. You only need to remove the outer housing to get to the movement. Most times a jewelers file will clean up the points. Be gentile as it is fragile.

Gene, Everything looks good except points. Filed them and am going to hook up clock to battery. Any issues I should be careful about?
