We were driving our '65 Corvette. Tank was almost empty -as the fuel gauge showed - in the middle of the leftmost quarter. Driving down a hill in a turn the gauge all of a sudden jumped to the middle of the rightmost quarter where it remained. After refueling (almost maximum) the needle went to the far right. But after pulling the key it slowly went back to the middle of the rightmost quarter again. And, with key inserted and lever of sending unit pulled down the needle don't go below this position.
So what is the most probable cause - what should I look for first? Sending unit, fuel gauge or wiring problem?
Oliver
