    1967 Amp Gauge

I have a 1967 427/390 car and my amp guage is fluctuating substantially. As I come to a stop it drops to -40 and as I accelerate it moves to +40. It then adjusts back to zero as I am driving. I have changed the voltage regulator and it's still doing the same thing. It never used to operate like this. I am about to go for a PV so I only have a few days to correct this issue.
    Thank you
    Alex

OK, if you look closely at the wiring diagram, you will see that the "ammeter" is actually a sensitive voltmeter that measures voltage drop (and direction) along a length of wire in the harness. look for connection problems in the sensing circuit.

      Alex,

Your Amp Gauge is Shot! Order you a new one as soon as you can. It can be installed without removing the entire dash cluster. Just remove the three screws from the pod and drop it down. Replace the gauge with the new one and re-install the pod.
      Good as new!

We will definitely take a look at that tomorrow. Thank you for the response.

          JR,
I hope it's as simple as just replacing the gauge. Thank you for your help.
