Vacuum Relay Location

While I am restoring my 69 base model I noticed at Carlisle and on page J37 ( I think) it appears that the wiper vac. relay has an L shaped bracket riveted to the side where the emission sticker goes and then you bolt the relay to it. A 69 S/B at Carlisle was the same. All the vendor catalogs show it mounted to the inner fender, so I am confused. Also I cannot find the bracket anywhere.

Roger, it depends on if you have an early or late car. Until early March, 1969, the relay was mounted to the inner fender like in 1968. After that it was mounted next to the hood latch. Because the mounting tab could catch on the hood latch cable, the tab was trimmed (cut) for clearance. Then, starting in July, 1969 it was moved closer to the firewall so it wouldn't catch on the latch and the mounting tab no longer needed to be cut.

The bracket can be seen on UPC 1, Sheet D3, item number 16 (P/N 3958813), but I don't think anyone is repopping it as of yet. Used would be your best bet.

Thanks Ed I do have an early model Nov. 68. Okay then I would be mounting the relay on the inner fender passenger side???
