I saw a 58 Corvette with no radio. In its place was a cover with the word Chevrolet on it. Is that correct on radio delete C1 cars?

Re: Radio delete C1
Check the Judging Guide, if you have one, on a 61-62 the plate is painted trim color with word Chevrolet in chrome plated script with the O open not closed. Radio was not ordered on a little over 3000 58 Corvettes according to the NCRS Spec Guide.- Top

Re: Radio delete C1
Here's a picture of my 1960 during restoration. I determined that my car most likely originally did not come with a radio but had a radio installed at some point. So, the block off plate was missing. I purchased a very good reproduction one and installed the Chevrolet script. To my knowledge the original Chevrolet script was cast/pot metal. The only ones available are plastic.Attached FilesDon Harris

Re: Radio delete C1
What I found during restoration was that it had a hole for a antenna, but it was in the wrong location. I got measurements from a number of other C1s and the hole in mine was much closer to the tail light and way off center.
Also, there was no bracket on the trunk side of the fender well for the bottom of an antenna. I stripped the paint from inside the trunk on that side of the fender well and from the wheel side of the fender well. There was no remnant of a bracket, rivet for patch. I tried using a bright light and looking form the other side to see if I could spot a really go repair, but didn't.Don Harris

Re: Radio delete C1
I had the same experience with my '59. It was only 10 years old when I got it and was a good daily driver. The radio was an old AM that looked like a mid '50s Ford. The antenna hole was 5 to 6 inches too far back with no sign of a hole or patch in the correct place. Also there was no shielding or brackets, no capacitors or ground straps anywhere on the car associated with radio equipment. Radio parts are found in the radio parts catalog that is separate from the parts and accessories catalog.
