I once saw the XP700 at a local chevrolet dealer back in the early 60s. I believe the car traveled the dealer circuit. Was the XP 700 suppose to be the 1963 Corvette? And was the Q Corvette suppose to be the new model Chevrolet Covair?

Re: Xp 700
The XP700 was first shown to the public circa 1958, and I believe the C1 chassis that was the foundation was later used for the Mako Shark, which later became known as Mako Shark I when the Mako Shark II was presented.
The styling inspiration for the C2 was the Stingray, which was designed about 1959.
The design that became the production Corvair had nothing to do with Corvette. It was designed specifically to complete with small European imports. The name Corvair wasn't applied until it went into production. The Corvair name was first used on a prototype fastback Corvette coupe that was otherwise the same as the '53-'55 body style, but it never went into production.
