    Chapter Meet

I have decided, kind of at the last minute to have my car judge at a chapter meet. It is less than two weeks away. This will be my first time as well as the car's. It is a 1960 283/230hp 4 speed. It is a driver and I have owned it for less than a year but have been enjoying it immensely this summer. I was wondering if anyone can help me with what I should do with less than two weeks time and really only one weekend between now and then. I feel this will be a wonderful learning experience for me and tell me allot about my car. Thanks for any insights.

really the best thing for you to do in such a short period of time is try to make everything work, such as all lights, all locks, windows, instruments, wipers, washers, etc. You take the greatest line item points loss on the judging sheets (after the engine) in the Operations scoring. Enjoy the judging meet experience, and good luck!

clean the car and enjoy the experience. Use the notes from the Flight judging as starting point to build up your restoration strategy keeping your end goal for your car in your mind...

Just go and enjoy it. Don't get miffed when the judges tell you what they find wrong. The "fix it" list you create from the score sheets will be the first step to the next judging meet.
FYI - (This is not ment as a complaint against any of the judges) Before you change/fix any of the items found wrong during judging, research that item and make sure it is indeed wrong. I've changed/fixed a few items based on the score sheets only to find out later they weren't wrong to begin with. Mistakes happen, no big deal.

If possible, degrease the engine and the undercarriage. I good aerosol can of degreaser and hot, high pressure water at car wash will work wonders under the car. Degrease by hand under the hood.

                Hi Zach,
I agree that you've made a good decision to have your car Flight Judged!
I believe you'll get to see your car in a new light as watch the judges work, and will find it a pleasant experience.
The judging sheets, along with the judges' comments, will be quite informative.
                Good Luck!
                Regards,
                Alan

Thanks again to all. I am really looking forward to this as a valuable learning experience for me personally as well as my car. Tom the chapter meet is the Central Jersey Chapter and is next weekend on the 14th. It is right next to the Quaker Bridge Mall. The info is on their website. I will be happy to let everyone know how the judging goes.

Great point. I have everything except the sticker. I placed the one received on another vehicle. Does anyone know if these are available at chapter meets?

                        Thanks.

generally only avail from main Cinn office. Sometimes an event chairman or someone else might have one at a meet but you cannot count on it.
pm or email me your address and I will throw one in mail to you by tomorrow. click on my name above this post to find link to pm me or my email address.
