Pat - I'm guessing that the reason we're not hearing more about the 66 Coupe is because it's not for sale and the owner 'is going to restore it one of these days/years'? Crying shame to see it just sit in the yard like that, flat tire and all.

Mike - that is pretty much the story. "Big restoration plans" We are talking and I've shown my 68 before after process + my other 2 vettes, so his car would go to a nice family. He claims the original motor is in his basement. He may come around but you know how these things go. I would love to add a C2 to the collection- who wouldn't though?

          Patrick,
A few years ago a friend of mine threw a crank in his antique airplane so we went up to Pioneer Town, CA to take it apart and get it back to his hangar. Only damage was the engine.
While my friend was waiting for us he took a walk and spotted a 63 coupe behind a barn type building. The sun was not kind to the car and about every bug or small animal that could find it's way in, did.
Even I thought it would be a challenge. I found the owners wife working behind the only bar in town, and same story. She said he knows it's worth restored and ONE DAY will get to it.
I offered a trade that with a fresh engine & trans that did not require smog, but no response and I never got to talk to him. One here zoomed down and the car was gone so I posted a few pics.
I might say that a fair offer works sometime, gets them thinking. I was trying to buy a old 5 cylinder model airplane engine that was NOT for sale. The guy invited me over to look at it along with some others he had. I told him that I paid $800 for mine and offered him $500 if he ever decided to sell. He put his hand out and slid the engine to me. Also sold the rest he had to me.

            Hi Dom,

Yeah, maybe a solid offer with cash in hand could sway the owner. I was even contemplating a trade for my 88 depending on what the car actually is, how it is optioned and what equipment is still with the car.
