don't know if this applies to your car but at 1 time there was a "BENDIX" power brake booster that I have seen added to the inner fender in this area...

I don't know the purpose of the 3 larger holes, but that is the left side inner fender (I think).

Are you absolutely sure it is an original?
The only thing I can think of in that location would be a 66 trans. Ignition box.

              Re: 63 Inner Fender Question

I have several 63s here, none with those holes. Not saying it didnt happen, but I dont remember seeing it.

I would need some more pictures of the inner-fender inside and out to tell if it is original.

I just looked at an April 20th 63 and a July 19th 63, those holes are not there.

What is the build date? I have a lot of 63's no holes. Old sun sending unit?

check out that BENDIX power brake unit like I said, it was remote from the firewall and was mounted on the inner fender about where your holes are. On the opposite side was of the holes is there any scarring where a nut plate or washer and a nut might have been? If you can see this then that would to me be an indictation that there was something definetely mounted to that inner fender at one time and not just some holes that were drilled and never used. I have seen a 66 Corvette and a 64 fuelie that both had this remote power brake unit mounted to that inner fender like I said.

Thank you Jimmy. Did you see my photo posted immediately above your last post which shows the inner fender (wheel side) shot showing evidence of some form of plate. Were these Bendix units a factory option or dealer-installed or simply after-market at the time?

HI Hugh, I would go ahead and fill those holes as they are not typical of what one would expect to see. My 9916 car does not have those holes. John

Your pictures show different wheel wells but the holes are not in the same place on each? They were added.
