63 guys, parking brake ?

I think the equalizer where the e brake cables route is natural finish and the and the lever that the large spring etc, connect to is black ? anybody have an idea what these finishes are? On the ebrake cables, which side does the end with the spring go? Thanks

I don't recall the original finish on either part, but likely no better than black phosphate. Mine are now cad plated - I hate rust!

The spring end of the cable attaches to the brake shoe. It should be clear in you AIM.

Here's pic of mine. They didn't get a deduct in two nationals. The silver parts are cad, the black ones just painted satin black. I believe that the u-shaped piece is natural (someone may have put clear flat paint on it to keep it from rusting...)
