1969 C3 convertible body alignment to new chassis frame, procedure to shim body

    Project History
Finally to the point where I have 69 convertible body dropped on a rebuilt chassis, as the original frame was toast. At some point in the past the solid body shims were replaced with the later rubber shims and the front clip may have been rebonded and I am not too sure how well, also during this restoration the #3 drivers side birdcage corner has been replaced because of rust. Door gaps were not too bad prior to all this work being done. At this point I have no place of reference to start with as far as the number of shims to use and where. I have all the manuals on chassis restoration, AIM etc. I am looking for a starting point for the number of shims at which body mounts and the overall sequence for adjusting the gaps.
Should I start with just the spacer at #1 and #2 becuase they are so close to each other?
Then adjust #3 and #4 shims (with door hinges loose) to get the rear gaps close then snug door hinges?
Then move to the front of the doors and possibly rebond the clip if required?
Since I have no point of reference and with all of the changes I am not sure exactly where to start.

Any and all assistance would be appreciated.

Yes, I meant rubber bushings. An thanks for replying, you also replied on the CF site. Since the frame has been replaced, I am going from rubber bushings to solid and a repair was made to the #3 mount, alot of changes have been made. I am having a shop do the work, but they are not "corvette experts" plus I realize that a convertible body/bird cage can have much more movement in it compared to a coupe. The gaps were off, but not terrible on the bad frame. I guess their first attempts at aligning everything did not go well, so I am trying to find out more information on the correct process to follow.
      Thanks,
      Joe
