    Radio 12v wire

Purchased a look alike radio from Antique Auto Radio in Florida. Want to add Bluetooth via the RCA plugs in the receiver. The harness that plugs into the receiver has 3 wires Grey, Yellow and Black. Black is the ground but which do I tap for power?

    Dave,

Do you have a voltmeter? You could find out quickly if you do. How about a schematic? It should tell you. I hear you can get a voltmeter at Harbor Freight for $5.00 or so. Doc Rebuild has the best schematics that I've seen.

New radios generally require two hots, one switched and one hot all of the time. The yellow will do for the switched, but you will have to find another source for full hot.

I have the AIM diagram and it "LOOKS" like the grey is for the lighting of the Radio and the yellow is to power the radio. Just want to confirm before I butcher my harness

          Hi Dave,

I would recommend not butchering the harness if at all possible. Can you make up a harness that plugs into the existing connector so that it can be removed in the future?

Don't mess with the two black ground wires in the center cavity of the radio connector - that circuit grounds EVERYTHING IN THE CAR from the firewall rearward, on that one wire, to the bottom of the lower instrument panel brace.
