I think the real super small details the repro makers might not be aware of should be kept under wraps but the common knowledge details should be discussed especially since there is a ton of fake paper with mistakes like this one out there already that can not be fixed unless they throw it away and start over. Potential buyers should be made aware of this and know what to look for.

Hey guys, don’t you think we’re all being a little hard-nosed with this person? May be this was “documentation” from a previous owner…in which case he was the one who got stung for not doing his homework. While I respect everybody’s right to their opinion; I, personally, see nothing wrong with replicating a window label for display purposes. Of course, if it is done with the intent to misrepresent or defraud a potential buyer…then that is a whole ‘nother matter. Let’s face it…with so many old Corvettes out there…there are probably more replica labels than real ones. And, let’s also face the fact that the quality ranges from the sublime to the ridiculous. Perhaps this is why, as I understand, a label is not included in the judging process. Though, I had to smile as I read thru the thread… Obviously, there are a lot of knowledgeable people out there who can quickly spot most of the the fakes. But then again, I’d be willing to bet that there are some replicas out there that haven’t been spotted…just as there are some bogus cars out there that haven’t been detected…yet.

        Hard-nosed? You're joking, right?
As I mentioned the present seller stated he received this from the prior owner. The seller presented it to me as his "documentation".
I can handle producing a duplicate of a 'window label',as you call it, for display purposes BUT it should be factual without embellishments.
Are you suggesting a seller should just pass on a "hot potato"?

If it is for "display" only why not stamp the word "reproduction" on the window sticker? The simple fact is these are never produced for just display. They are produced to increase value through deception EVEN if the information is factual, it's being presented as original documentation and that increases overall value to some degree.

Now we have a dealer showing this window sticker in an ad for a 67 Powerglide. Should we inform them?
