I am confused about the wiring on my 69 Wiper Motor. My motor has one 3 terminal connector and one two terminal connector on the front side. It also has a ground strap from one of the mounting screws of the motor going to one of the valve cover bolts. (a total of 6 connections). The AIM shows another connection....a red wire going to the back side of the motor. This red wire is coming from the wiper door limit switch. I cannot find any place to attach such a wire to my motor. I am thinking I might have the wrong wiper motor for my car. I discovered this issue while trying to correctly connect this limit switch. I have had this car for 15 years and am just now getting around to installing the vacuum lines correctly and trying to get everything working as it is suppose to. Someone had taken some shortcuts just to get the headlight doors to open and were using the override valve to open the wiper door. Any and all comments will be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: 69 Wiper Motor Wiring
Thomas,
Sorry but you have the incorrect wiper motor for a 69 Corvette. It is a generic replacement from Delco. It can be wired to work correctly but it probably will require a well trained technician to wire it correctly. A well trained technician on site.

Re: 69 Wiper Motor Wiring
Thanks for your reply Joe. The motor operates the wipers ok, but I can't figure out how to make the limit switch turn the motor on and off. Seems like it would be a simple fix since the limit switch either interrupts the power supply or the ground circuit. I am sorry to hear it is not the correct motor for my car, but that is just my luck. I am not really interested in having the car judged....just want to try and get this motor to work. Any other thoughts or comments are welcome. Thanks again.- Top

Re: 69 Wiper Motor Wiring
Joe, I appreciate your feedback. Can you give me some more information on this generic replacement wiper motor? If it is a replacement why would it not be wired for my car? What do you mean when you say "A well trained technician on site?"- Top

Re: 69 Wiper Motor Wiring
Hi Thomas,
The Willcox Corvette site has some extensive information on the wiper motor's operation and trouble shooting.
If you google 'Wilcox wiper motor help' you'll be led to both some video and text help.
You may need to 'sift' through it since it sounds like you may not have a 69 motor.
Do you know about that site?
Good Luck!

Re: 69 Wiper Motor Wiring
I don't know what I would do without NCRS members help. Thanks to everyone. I checked out the Willcox Corvette Site and found lots of very good information. I decided to remove my wiper motor today to get a good look at the back side. My motor is a Delco made in Dayton, Ohio no. 4999854. Based on the information I found on the Willcox Corvette Site it is not the correct wiper motor for a 69 Corvette. This would explain why I was having so much trouble trying to figure out how to wire the wiper door limit switch. Does anyone know what car may have used this numbered motor? I have replaced just about everything else on this car so I guess I will be looking for a wiper motor now.- Top

Re: 69 Wiper Motor Wiring
Hi Thomas,
I'm pleased you found some help!
The limited information I have indicates 4999854 was used from late 1973 through 18983 in various applications.
Hopefully Joe L. with be able to describe more precisely what it is.
