C1 Fuelie dies after warm up

As soon as the ratio lever moves to economy, it dies. Seems like a big vacuum leak, it will stay running at rpm's over 1200 or so, prior to ratio lever switching to lean it's fine . I have a spare running 320 unit, which it runs fine with, I have also isolated the problem to the plenum by installing my spare Fuel and air meter & new CSV and full plenum gasket. It has Q12 nozzles which I swapped with my S14's, it didn't die as quickly but would stall after idling at 1k for a few sec's. I shook the spider check valve and it rattled, it has a siphon valve which I bypassed, no change. I did a smoke test on the plenum, and got some seepage around each nozzle body, but no where else, so I replaced the nozzle gaskets, no change in operation. I'm open to ANY ideas, as I'm about out of them, can any of you FI experts help please ? Thanks much. Lyle

Over on CF Jerry Bramlett described the exact calibration procedure which must be followed and offered free telephone help.

Thanks for the reply Jim, I talked with Jerry yesterday and will confirm the stop and enrichment diaphram rod settings today. I very much appreciate you, Jerry and John D's help on this problem, the 3 of you are the most recognized experts on FI and with your help I'm confident I'll find the problem. I'll keep you posted on my findings.
      Thanks Again, Lyle

Lyle, Tell the gang about the garage that does a smoke test to check for leaks. I mean to say tell them how it was done on the FI unit. THis is all new to me and not available in my area.

Hi John, sure, I have a friend at a local garage that has a smoke machine that he normally uses to test for vacuum leaks in carbureted engines, he agreed to let me try it on the 60 FI, to help isolate the stalling problem. It's a pretty nice machine, runs from a tank of compressed nitrogen, and the smoke vapor it produces is non flammable. You inject the smoke via a flexible wand into a manifold or plenum fitting and block off any areas to make the intake as air tight as possible, like carb horn, or on a FI unit, air meter adapter, idle plumbing elbow, and vent tube on the fuel meter cover. In my case the only smoke we saw was a small amount coming around each of the injector nozzle openings on the blocks, and it was pretty uniform on all 8, no doubt coming from the nozzle gaskets since as you mentioned, they won't be totally airtight. It ruled out my suspected possible leakage area of the plenum to base fit or manifold gasket since there was no smoke coming from either. It's a great diagnostic tool, easy to connect to a Fuelie, not sure what they cost, I suspect under $1k, without the nitro tank, but in my case it saved many hours of labor looking for a vacuum leak. If anyone has any questions about it, feel free to PM me.
            Thanks,
            Lyle

I believe this is a link to the procedure on CF: (post #14 is Jerry Bramlett)

C1 & C2 Corvettes - 62 FI power & economy stop measurements - i need to establish a baseline for setting the power & economy stop set screws on my 62 FI. i would appreciate it if someone with a 62 unit could give me the measurement between the inner ends of their set screws. http://i14.tinypic.com/6lkcp5l.jpg yes, i...

That's not it. The specific thread to which I referred is this one:
