I've owned Corvettes since 1970 with my first one being a '59. I've been blessed to have owned a total of 10 Corvettes over the years and have enjoyed every one of them. My current Corvette is a '67 Coupe with a lot of special meaning for me personally. I have wanted to own a '67 in this configuration since I graduated from high school in 1967 (on June 14). I started hard looking for this car about 17 years ago. I knew going in that it would be a long and difficult search because of the options and condition I was looking for. In February of this year I finally found my personal dream car in Merritt Island, Florida. This car had just been through a fairly substantial frame off restoration by a gentleman who shares my birth date (nice coincidence). He was just finishing the restoration when he had to have double hip replacement surgery and wasn't going to be able to enjoy the fruits of his labors. Truly unfortunate for him but amazingly fortunate for me. I have always owned my Corvettes to drive and enjoy (as I do with my current car) and have never even entertained having one judged. But, this car (IMHO) deserved to be judged and I decided that the Lone Star Regional was where she was going to be "baptized". I wasn't able to attend the banquet on Saturday night after the meet so I have been awaiting my package in the mail since. Well, today was the day and you can witness below what I received. It may not mean as much to some as it does to me but I am here to tell you that I am beyond thrilled with the results. With a raw score of 89.3% for my first time out. So many small things that will be easily fixed to raise my next score to the 94% minimum for Top Flight. But for today...consider me all smiles
By the way, stamped into my trim tag is the birthday of my car...K14. Remember when I graduated from high school?
