Second design parking brake lever 65-66

In April 66 Chevrolet introduced a second design parking brake lever #3899399. The original lever was 3842938. The design was to increase mechanical advantage. My Feb 66 car is 2 months prior to the change (Vin 6S118091 acccording to the TSB)

Before I adjust the parking brake, is there anyway to identify the second design, i.e., distance between holes etc.?

For the benefit of those who are not familiar with the Tech Service Bulletin, here's the 2 pages: If you can trust the drawing to be to scale, you could calculate the distance between the holes.

      Randy ,

Does this help? . As near as I can see , it is 6 inches center to center lengthwise and 1 inch center to center from pull rod hole to pivot hole .

        Jim,

Big help. Thanks. My lever is attached to the bottom of the bracket so I cannot see the notch but I can feel it. So I have to assume it has been upgraded to second design. The long arm of the lever is 6" center to center of holes.

Here's the arm and the frame bracket (without the notch shown in the TSB) on my late '65. Hard to see a difference in the installed arms without a side-by-side comparison.

Since the pivot bracket is welded to the frame X-member, I wonder if the notch was done at St. Louis, or at the frame fabricator.

Wayne I would say any car built before 4/1/66 was was modified at the dealer only if the owner complained . The bulletin was sent to the dealers in May showing the repair needed . Many times the factory made changes based on the modifications we had to do at the dealers . Bill
