Re: License Frame judging????
Stainless and Aluminized components are not handled under CDCIF. They are in the Judging Reference Manual. Section 4- Standard Deduction Guidelines item #6.
Table of Originality Deductions.
Deduct 50%- any part that was not originally stainless steel.

Re: License Frame judging????
The judging reference manual states on page 25 under originality scoring, "originality scoring is based on a part, component part, or area appearing to the judges to comply with our......... All the portions under CDCIF are defined in a visual determination of our judging standard. You can read the judging reference manual for ones self to become more familiar with our requirements. You should not lose points based on verification beyond appearance. Magnetic quality is not a requirement for visual judging. The judging reference guide states judging is on an appearance basis. That means looking with one's eyes. There is no provision for metallurgical verification. Densitometers, Rockwell test, color charts, magnification equipment, durometer measurement, magnetic qualities, etc as these are not spelled out as means of judging components defined as "appears". Visual does not entail physical contact with said Corvette. Judges tools should be limited to score sheet, judging manual, clipboard, pencil, flash light, and a small mirror. Eye glasses should be the only optical enhancement necessary for vision.”
I'm sure owners would not like their paint verified with spectra analyzer or ultrasonic thickness measurement. My opinion is if you can "see" no difference from original using the CDCIF guidelines then no deduction.
I further state if a judge can't tell the difference between steel and stainless by looking at it then maybe he should better educate one's self.- Top

Re: License Frame judging????
Once it is off the car there is no need for a magnet. The clips and rivet are clearly visible so it is easy to see if it is a GM replacement or an original.- Top
