Are there any good engine rebuilding shops in so Cal that anyone can recommend that wont screw up my engine pad numbers? It's a 67 Small block

What horsepower? Do you want to do a "stock rebuild" or spend some dough on internal mods that won't affect idle behavior or normal operating characteristics, but provide more top end power and another 500-1000 useable revs.
What area of SoCal would be most convenient?

That's a long haul from Metro LA or OC. I'm sure there is a engine/machine shop or two out in the Coachella Valley. Phone book, whatever, and go talk to them. Any shop can do a "stock rebuild", but you have to provide specific written instructlions on what you want, and I also suggest you specify manufacturer/part number of any and all parts that MAY need to be replaced.
Most guys get in trouble because they fail to manage the shop properly.

Are you a member of the Southern California chapter? I just read their latest newsletter, it has a story of a shark that went from basket case to Duntov award. He mentions a machine shop. You may want to give him a holler to see how his experience was. Here's the link:
