Re: correct S/B 69 base model fan clutch

I have the original fan clutch for my Oct. '68 small block (300 hp), A/C car. It is the Schwitzer model. If the ice on the roads melts later today I will go to the shop and take a picture and post it.

The Schwitzer brand name will not be found anywhere on the clutch. The abbreviation "SC" will be seen stamped on the flange with the date. The "bi-metallic" rectangular plate thermostat also identifies it as a Schwitzer-style clutch.

By the way, America's Finest Corvettes reproduces the Scwitzer-style clutches for both big block and small block applications. They will date them however you wish. These reproduction clutches look very good. How they perform, though, I do not know.

Thanks Joe, I should have known that. Were you able to look at my post on the other forum. I have a picture that I would like to know is correct.
          Thanks.

Joe, I am going to go with what you mentioned if NCRS is okay with that for judging. They carry a warranty and the setup would carry the correct date that they stamp and is a whole lot cheaper then what guys are asking and they all nee to be rebuilt. Thanks

Here are the photos of a base engine fan clutch. This was restored several years ago.

This is a GM #3937771. It was used for 1969 small blocks with A/C. However, I don't think it was used for 1969 base engine small blocks without A/C.

                    Joe,
                    Yes, the car is A/C.

I do have available to me an original clutch dated 5 15 68 from a big block. I would think that this might work since it was not exclusively used for just big blocks. Joe is that right?

This one is available to me with the date of 5 15 68 for a big block which I guess could work since they were not exclusive to just big blocks. 009.jpg010.jpg007.jpg
