Not since 1974. This board has not been around anywhere near that long!

          Re: Server Issues

It was awful last night, froze my computer about a dozen times, kept locking up, wouldn't recognize me - never had that type of problem before. Seems to be OK tonight, logged on automatically. Washington, Michigan (25 miles north of Detroit).

            Re: Server Issues

Pffff ,that was a though issue to battle!

We eventually found out the external service we use to check from which country a IP address is originating used for our blacklist mechanism (to exclude access for potential hackers) was no longer working. Each time someone isn't on the whitelist this check is done to verify you are a legitimate user. For each user this test is done regardless if you are whitelisted each 5 minutes when he/she is accessing our website.

Since the service we use was no longer working it meant that each time this check is done a long waiting time occurred and then the page continued to load (after a 1 till 2 minute wait). It was a bear to find out what was going on because at the same day some some other server changes were made by our hosting provider (eventually these proved to be non related) and a major AT&T router on the internet was down so before we were able to figure out what was the case a lot of water went through the Rijn (Dutch expresion) and we accumulated some more grey hairs (as far any non-grey hair was still present for John and Gary, I sure did).

            regards,
            Rob, John & Gary.

              Rob,
Our thanks to you, John, Gary and all the technicians that work for the IT services the NCRS uses to deliver this great website. Clearly it was a challenging and difficult issue to resolve. I would venture to guess that analysis and investigative skills you, John and Gary have acquired and refined that make you Corvette experts paid off in identifying and resolving this IT issue. Thanks again on behalf of all members.

                Re: Server Issues

                Hi Rob,
                Thanks for the explanation !
I notice a new "SiteLOCK SECURE" logo in the lower right corner of the screen since the change to the new look.
Did this problem have something to do with that?
Again, thanks for your expertise and the pleasure your work behind the scenes on the Forum gives us.
                Regards,
                Alan

                    Alan,

The SiteLock logo has been there for over a year. Not part of the problem.

I did not ever notice it with the old format either, FYI.
So, even if it has been there previously it's either showing up differently now, or larger logo, or... maybe just more obvious because it's white on black?

For me the SiteLock logo is only present when using the NCRS Style, doesn't show in the Old-Style.

                              Same here.

It may be that the Admins could see it, but until the New Style us regular people didn't have it visible.
