    Carpet cut outs

OK guys, I have dug through the posts , gathered pictures , and scored detailed drawings , enough info and enough pictures to know how to cut out the seat tracts on my 66

The only thing I don't know is why the center cut outs are there ? Just to insure no interference with the seat adjusting cable ?

    Jim,

I don't have an answer, but a request. If you find out more about carpet, please post it here. I am restoring a 66 coupe. I just removed a replacement carpet set (or at least the front part was replacement) and none of it was cut correctly. So I am interested in any details of correct installation of the carpet.

      Don,

I searched the forum under "Carpet " and found more posts than I ever imagined . The two pictures above were the best of all I found . The only other thing I have is this John Kennedy drawing and some notes I made while reading all the other posts.

For exact blow by blow descriptions, peruse the earlier posts. There is a wealth of info within .The only thing missing was a video, but that might exist as well .

Oh, and this close up picture of the Gas Pedal area .

Update : While looking at a few more post , I found the answer to my own question and some more details :

"Original carpets removed from 1965 Corvettes had cutouts for the seat adjuster assemblies (approx 2" deep x 4" long), located inboard of each of the four seat rails."
