    66- Headlight Switch Assembly

    hi

in respect of the the Rod Assembly, pn 3876490, that is part of the Headlight Switch Assembly, pn 1995131 (66 AIM UPC12, B4), i have heard that there might be two different rod assemblies during 1966 - one with a shorter rod and one with a longer rod, and that for a late build (K25) the shorter rod is correct (and using the longer rod results in a point deduction in judging) - is that so? - if so, is 3876490 the pn for the short or long rod? - if long, what is the pn for the short rod?

    thanks

I have not seen, nor heard of 2 different length knobs on a 66. Same switch, same dash cluster housing.

      Thanks Brian -

Does the '67 AIM show the same part number?

      thanks

I'll go out on a limb here. Are you confusing the headlight door openning "toggle" with the headlight switch knob and shaft.

The reason I ask is the length of the toggle on service repacement switches was longer than the factory installed part. At least those supplied in later years. A judge could detect that it aware.

As far as I know, the GM #3876490 rod was used for all 1966 Corvettes. It's possible that early 1967 Corvettes also used this same rod. However, most, if not all, 1967 Corvettes used rod GM #3901626.

By the way, the knobs on the above-referenced rods are different. As far as I know, that's the difference between the two.

Dan is right. THe headlight "toggle" is shorter and flush with the housing on originals. The service replacements had a longer toggle that protruded past the housing /was longer. The mast and knob are different, as the headlight (pull knob and mast) were 67 only items with a plastic chrome knob with chrome and a black plastic insert. The reverse side was black plastic with a spade logo on it. 66's were different. Different knob completely from a 67. Regards. ARA
