    70 exterior door lock function?

I just spent over 6 hours installing, re-installing, changing and re-installing locks in my doors (after paint). Before I started, to make sure I got it right, I went to the Operations section of the TIMJG page 8, which states "To lock the door using the square head key, insert the key into the lock with the notches down and rotate the lock cylinder 90 degrees counter clockwise on the passenger door and clockwise on the driver's door".
I tried the locks, which I have sent to Pete Lindahl for his magic, (new correct locks, keys, etc.). The car apparently had 1 original and 1 universal lock, which he provided a second original correct side lock/lever with matching keys for all appropriate locks. Anyway, installed the locks, and they lock the opposite of what the book says. I tried reversing, different levers, different combinations and the only way they work with the teeth down and the lock/lever combination Pete sent them is: to lock; passenger side, turn the lock clockwise-toward the front of the car and driver side turn counter clockwise-toward the front of the car.
I checked my 66 (Duntov Award car), and they are in sink with the both the 66 & 70 book: driver-clockwise, passenger-counter clockwise or to lock turn to rear of car. Are they really the same, or was the verbiage just carried over by mistake?
I called a friend that owns a 72-same deal as how I made my 70 work: to lock, turn toward the front of the car. So, is the book wrong, or am looking at this thing wrong?

On my original owner 1969 which I am very confident is the same as 1970, to lock the driver door the key is turned counterclockwise approximately 45 degrees. To unlock the driver side door the key is turned clockwise approximately 90 degrees.

To lock the passenger side door the key is turned clockwise approximately 45 degrees. To unlock the passenger side door the key is turned counterclockwise approximately 90 degrees.

Joe, you just confirmed what I came up with-I have to assume the design was changed and operation is opposite direction of the C-2 and the TIMJM is incorrect and a carry over from prior year manuals. Thanks for your input.

I agree with Pete the JM is wrong. hopefully this will be a fix in the next JM.

Thanks all, I appreciate hearing I wasn't crazy. I kept telling myself: the book has got to be wrong, say it ain't so!
