    John,

Paul's Chrome does the best 56-7 taillights rechroming and guarantees their work.

      John,
Please followup with results as I also need my 57 Gasser tail lights chromed.
I got a quote of $300.00 from a friend who owns Metal Brite Plating in Dayton.
He uses a good commercial plater but admits it is difficult to get the chrome all the way up to the socket area.
Advance Plating is said to be the best, but I'm not sure about 56-57 tail lights.

        John,

Send me a pair and I'll get my chromer to fix them up.

Correct - Paul's built a special set of anodes just for the '56-'57 taillight housing back in the mid-90's - they did the housings for both of my 57's in 1996 or so, and they were flawless.

Oh this brings back bad memories....https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...314#post694314

Sorry, but mine were ruined by a local shop near me here in Melbourne Florida. Then the refused to fix them. They said they couldn't do it any better. They re-chromed them originally, with a bit too much shadow on one of them, then made it worse.

I got a quote from Paul's to fix the one.......$400. Confused, and thinking I heard him wrong, I asked him if it was the pair.....He said ONE. That's $800 for the pair.

They're still in the box, chromed, with a big shadow under the lens on one of them.

John, I have seen 3 sets from Paul's and all excellent. I spoke to them about my originals and an NOS set last summer. John is correct about the anodes Paul's has.

                    Re: Rechrome 56-57 Tail Lights

Yesterday I spent the day on a road trip to Titusville, Florida, visiting my new chrome shop.

                    Custom Cast & Chrome

I met with Ray Pinto the owner and we had a good visit. Ray and his wife Lynn bought a Orlando Chrome shop 2 years ago and relocated it there to Titusville. Ray has been in the pot metal business for years, and creates and supplies emblems and cast pieces for Corvettes and other marques including Ford and AMC. He sells directly to Ecklers he said, and IMO maybe a few others he didn't mention. He has 2 shops. One does AMC exclusively, the other shop does the rest. Very nice people to start a new plating relationship with. Ray is going to eventually have capability to chrome aluminum and will have zinc plating abilities some time in the future too.

Kenny, the shop manager, spent a good amount of time with us reviewing our '59 needs. Door posts, f & r bumpers and miscellaneous pieces for plating. About a dozen parts being done. We have a 8 week turnaround scheduled. Reasonably priced.

I brought my 56 tail lights with me for them to look at. Kenny and his dad chromed bumpers at a shop they owned in Melbourne many years ago and he was at another chrome shop before moving to this new shop. He's going to make the anodes for the 56 tail lights and I'll be bringing mine up there for him to repair what the other shop ruined. I'll check back in when that happens.
