A friend is looking at a reproduction 963 intake for a 396 from Crains. Has anyone seen these or know how they judge ? His original was cracked on a runner he had it repaired and it recracked when installed . The photos show it being cut out under the carb my early original is not like that. his is a late car

Re: reproduction intake
The photo shows a manifold with the center divider removed to a much greater extent than even an L-88 manifold. That part of it is nothing like a stock 963 intake, and it would reduce the low end drivability of the car. Although there are closeups of the casting number, there are no overall photos of the top of the manifold to see how much it resembles the real thing. Maybe that's why it is so cheap ($291).- Top

Re: reproduction intake
Here's an early-ish 963 intake I have. Don't know what car it's off of, but seems bone stock to me.
To bad I didn't take a pic of the 4 barrels, but there's only a slight cut (maybe 1/8" deep) around the bores [probably stock]. At the time we were discussing the dimple on the hex plug.
