They are both push-pull cables. They do not come off. Do you have an AIM? A schematic is in SECT 101 Sheet 3.00. The "air" cable goes thru the firewall to the control lever out in front of the heater where the fresh air hose attaches. The "temp" cable goes up to the control valve where your heater hoses come thru the firewall above the passengers feet. Both of these knobs are held to the face plate by a lock washer and nut on the back side. In effect you need to disconnect the ends of the cable and pull the whole cable thru. You will need to lay on your back with a bright led light and trace it along to see where it goes. Hope this helps.

All you need for the clock is to push it in and rotate it. There's only one electrical contact on the back.

If you do decide to remove the cables be very careful with the top fan switch.
The resistor on the switch is easily damaged.
