    Repro Trailing Arm Bolt/Washers

I believe I've searched and read most posts on this topic so hopefully I have not missed this information.

I have a '69 and ordered the "correct" trailing arm bolt kit from Corvette Central. The correct may or may not only refer to the fact that it has a TR head mark but regardless there are other things about the kit I question. The kit is labeled to fit 63 to well into most if not all C3s so that may explain what I believe is incorrect about it for a '69. The kit did not come with a lock washer. The kit came with two different flat washers - one I'll call standard and the other is substantially thicker to the point that I have to believe it is also serving as a spacer. I haven't measured but I bet it is equal to a normal flat washer and a split lock washer.

In any case I called CC and the tech said he would check on why it included this "spacer" and no lock washer. He came back and said he checked what he said was an original/correct '65 they have and it had the thicker washer on the inside, the "standard" flat washer on the outside and no lock washer. Is that correct for a '65?

From what I've gathered from other posts and from Joe Lucia my '69 should have two equal flat washers and a split lock washer as well as the castle nut and cotter pin and all should be, what I'll call bright zinc, except for the lock washer which is phosphate. Is that correct for a '69?

    Thanks!

1965 was slightly different than 1969. 1965 did not use the split lockwasher whereas 1969 did. Otherwise, they were the same.

The GM #3683853 flat washer was 3/32" thick and zinc plated. The GM #103328 split lockwasher was 9/64" thick and of plain finish.
