Posting for a friend. Hood will not release on his '62. Based on my research looks like cable came off the rod under the hood. We need suggestions on how to remedy. Thanks!

Re: Unable to open hood on '62- Any ideas?
Paul,
Something like this happened to my '61 several years ago. I'm assuming it is just one side that came loose. I had to get under the car and use a long screwdriver to reach the latch in the engine compartment and push it open. It was not easy and took a lot of patience.- Top

Had the same thing happen on a 59 - took the drivers side splash shield off as all the bolts are external, and then got an old steel coat hanger reached up and pulled the hood wire down, after that I always had a wire running down that if it ever happened again I had a get out of jail- Top

Re: Unable to open hood on '62- Any ideas?
The passenger side hood latch on my 65 coupe failed to open one day.
I just slid under the car, reached up to the latch and popped it open with my hand.
I do not have long arms but they were long enough.
The cabel retainer had loosened and came off.- Top

Maybe you could explain your get out of jail wire so people would understand where you attached it and where it is hidden. I for one keep a rolodex with all the great ideas I've learned over the years from this board and others.
