Black waterproofing compound to seal weather-stripping

According to my 65 Judging Manual, "black waterproofing compound is used on the body/windshield post area to seal the weather-stripping." What are the judges looking for here? What material is used?

    Thanks for your input.

3M has a product called Bedding and glazing compound for windshields. It comes in a caulking tube. The windshield was sealed between the glass and the rubber and between the rubber and body then excess removed. You would expect to see caulk between the rubber and trim on the glass side but not between the trim and body. Cut the tip of the tube for a very small opening and insert between the glass & rubber and move evenly around the glass. It usually requires removal of the trim moldings. Without the sealer you have a guaranteed leak. There are pictures of this process in Noland Adams Corvette Restoration vol. 2.

I use 3M Black Strip Caulk and weatherstrip adhesives. I use a black windshield sealer on the rubber to glass sealing tasks. All available at NAPA.

My 63 had something similar to the 3m strip caulk as Rich is speaking of. and behind the pillar stainless there was a light gray sealer that appeared to be the same as the strip caulk. I understand that home depot or Lowes sells something similar.
