    Correct seat belt bolts for 63??

    I've pulled the trigger on correct seat belts from Charlie at Seatbelt Sity. Would like to use the correct bolts to install.

    Can an someone point me in the right direction. What I had in the car is not correct for sure

    thx

    Believe mine used "clutch head" bolts. Just one of a few applications that one might buy a set of clutch head sockets and screwdrivers for. Another being Holley metering block screws.

      Very interesting! I will look in the AIM and other documentation I have. Why would such an odd bolt be used?

      Anyone else verify this question??

      thanks

        Don, the correct bolts for the seat belts are sold by Long Island corvette. they have a rounded head with a allan head.

          Don;

          Ed is right as far as the Judging Guide states they are Allen head cad or zinc plated round heads. I changed mine out in the 70's to what the guide says while I was upgrading my interior. But, my originals were clutch head and I know I never changed them before then (original car, original owner). I changed them because they were corroded and shabby looking. I still have them in my original parts boxes somewhere. The reason I recalled this is due to the fact I had a heck of a time getting them out and had to make a tool. I've noticed in older cars that clutch heads may be found in "safety related" hardware such as door hinges or seat mounting applications. Why, I don't know except maybe they didn't expect or want back yard mechanics to be messing with them. If the guide says Allen head you should go with that.

              Thanks so much for the education. The ones we took out were this crazy clutch heads and I thought that just couldn't be right. I'll take a pic and post with some details. Maybe I have the right ones all along?

                I just looked at the bolts, I believe are the originals, that I removed from my 63, it's an April car. They are not clutch head.

                Maybe the early bolts are clutch heads, what is you build month, VIN, etc?

                      My build date was July 8th. The position of these bolts in sort of a corner makes them hard to get at to tighten except with a socket head type tool, be it Allen head or clutch head.

                            They sure look good. May be I'll get my originals done as well (also dark blue).

                              Bolts in my December '63 are the 'original* round headed Allen head. These would be the only type bolts used in the area 63-67 to my knowledge.
