I just read that there was 1 Z06 convertible made in 63. Is that car still around?

Re: Z 06
From the looks of that car at the National at Hampton, it has not been restored, just cleaned up gently. And there was an outstanding seminar session presented on the '63 Z06 with many owners there.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: Z 06
The Vert originally surfaced in 2004 at Bloomington, as I was parked across the aisle from it with my 1963 small tank Z06 "LADY".
Tony actually provided the seminar session at Hampton. Very knowledgeable on many of the "rolling changes" that happened in 1963. Bob Jorjorian was instrumental in getting the Z06 information out to the public. In addition to the Vert, Tony also owns a 1963 Z06 race car. He previously owned a small-tank Z06 also.Rick Aleshire

Re: Z 06
Rick;
Was that at St. Charles? If so, that must have been the place/time I first saw it. Was your 63 a Daytona Blue Convertible? If it was, believe me, that would have been what caught my eye as I too have a 63 in that color. Still the best and most attractive in my eye (which goes under the knife tomorrow). The black one #1, as I recall, had a lot of patina which does little to stir my blood.

Re: Z 06
Is there really any documented evidence that only 1 63 Convertible with the ZO6 option ever existed??? Remember there is no such thing as a 63 ZO6 Convertible but only a 63 with the ZO6 option. There were many 64's Convertibles with the ZO6 option. All it took in late 63 was to add the brake package. The other mandantory stuff came with either ZO6 or FI. Things such as transmission, posi were standard or mandantory with both of those options. By late 63 the ZO6 package was unbundled and opened the door for convertibles.
My first Corvette was a 64 Convertible with FI, 4 speed, 4.56 rear and ZO6 brakes. Cost me $275.00 and the seller threw in a complete 63 front for the restoration.
Just asking some of you younger dudes!

PS. I have seen at least one 63 Convertible with ZO6 brakes and 340HP.- Top

Re: Z 06
JR - not sure of any "documented" evidence of more than one Vert. Growing up in Minnesota, eh there was always a rumor even until this day of a red Vert around Stillwater, MN and Hudson, WI areas. Heard folks talking about the rumor again at last Regional in Rochester couple of years ago. If anyone would know would think Bob Jorjorian, Eric Gill, Franz Eistereicher, Jim Gessner and others who have been around these "plastic cars" may know. Just saying...............Me thinks I need to visit Mr. Avedisian this weekend.Rick Aleshire

Re: Z 06
I don't think that "there is only 1 ZO6 convertible documented" to be the ONLY one; no one has ever found that stat that I am aware of. But Tony's
ZO6 IS documented to be one - purchased through the Employee Purchase program by an employee in Styling (?), etc. Car's debut was at a Regional in Zion National Park in Utah.- Top

Re: Z 06
Loren - funny you should state it like you did, as I was with Tony at some function when the C7 Z06 Vert was announced, and they had to state it was NOT the first time a Z06 was being offered as a Vert! Found that very interesting.Rick Aleshire

Re: Z 06
There is a purported red/black Z06 convertible in the Denver area, belongs to a NCRS member that he vintage raced at the Steamboat Regional back in 97, I believe he might have had it in the parking lot at the Denver regional last year. I personally held the real window sticker for a red/red Z06 convertible probably the one Rick refers to in the Stillwater MN that same year at the Winona MN regional in 1997.- Top

this is why I can't understand why people are paying incredible amounts for Z06 cars. They weren't of any higher performance than later cars with the right options ordered. Race providence and/or the actual equipment the car came with should determine value, not three characters on the order sheet. I think many of the high dollar collectors chase fashion rather than actual knowledge when it comes to cars. Sorry to go off-topic.
